At least guy over there has sense enough to know this guy hasn't any:

He may win "DIY Idiot of the Year" award.

Discuss...........!

"Take him out and shoot him."
"Sir?"
"I said take him out and shoot him. Can't you hear?"

Watch me get blamed for this, as well:

OK, number 1...................

I didn't make any such measurement. I am not aware of anyone I know doing them, let alone posting them.

And, number 2................

I had nothing to do with you no longer being a member at some other forum. Even if it was one that I was in charge of. (You won't believe me, but then you never did, when it came to anything else, so why be inconsistent?)

And, number 3.....................(and this applies to everyone.............even idiots from Ireland)...........

The Chinese have no idea about "low jitter", or anything else, when it comes to oscillators. It is in their DNA. I had a very knowledgeable engineer/DIYer 'splain to me that you can tell what the jitter of a clock will be by inverting the PPM stability number, because that drift is the same as how much jitter it will have.

I am not joking.............

So, you buy something from China..............you deserved to get hosed.

The folks with more experience are not at The Pub. In a sense, he is right. But, for the wrong reason.

Well, at the least the professional shows he is a professional*:

http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/analog-line-level/146693-john-curls-blowtorch-preamplifier-part-ii-3754.html#post3432928

BTW, I hear it is $10k, and the s/w "starts" at $1500. A lot of people, who sat on their thumbs, are not happy.

Oh, well..................

*= the hobbyists are still that.
But "pros" at kvetching.

FM tuner for Jitter analysis

Years ago I've already tried something similar with my SDR radio and DVB-T+DAB+FM USB dongle. It is wrong path to follow  :)
Even with modified USB dongle (to capture lower frequencies) it is still wrong path to follow  :)

it is an interesting exercise, for the hobbyists. Assuming they can pick off the right harmonic.

More interesting is to hook up a battery-powered headphone amp, to the PLL pin, on any SPDIF RX chip. Interesting..............instructive..............they may learn something.

No, wait...............they will kvetch that I did not 'splain what they will learn, and blame me for being a greedy professional.

Who only thinks about money.

They are right. When you don't have money, you worry a lot about it. (Or lack thereof.)
