.....I make the cables that I make because to me anyway, they sound good, look good, feel good, and even smell good.
Do they make an actual audible difference? I don't know.....
One of the funniest things I have read in a while, even funnier when you work out who said it !.

Been fixing and listening to audio for waaay too long....

Never gave any thought about they are supposed to smell.

In a way, he is being honest. He thinks everything else stinks, at least when it comes to sounding different (which, by implication, means sounds better), so I guess his cables should stink.

Like what............well, the devil is in the details. No, I don't want to know what they smell like. Even if it is baba ganoush.

The world standard for wire is Belden. There is nothing about wire that is known that Belden doesn't know.

In the realm of coax, they are not. I can think of several companies who would turn their nose up, at the crap Belden makes. (How many people think Gore-Tex only makes rain clothes?)

Nothing they don't know? Hmmm, my experience says something else. They never made ABAM cable, so they don't know everything. (Maybe not their fault, as the published BellCo spec is not complete.)

There is one thing they know: how to over-charge.

And one more thing they never knew: how many gazillion feet of wire, the place I used to work at used. They never, repeat never, called on us. Every other wire company did, except Alpha. I guess they are large enough, they didn't need to. We used tons of custom-made coax. I know about who came and who didn't, as I was the guy who had to measure all of the samples.

On a lark, I did call Belden, one day, and spoke to their "lab" people. When I told them what we were doing, etc., the silence on the far end was deafening. (I wanted to exchange thoughts on how to measure shield effectiveness.) About 15 years ago, I related some of my experiences, with some guy who was a bigwig, in their sales department. He couldn't get my contact info, soon enough.

Too bad I hadn't been there, for 10 years, and the company was using fiber optics, and needed much less coax. He couldn't believe they were so stupid, as to blow us off.

Yeah, they are the world standard.

I'm also Johnny Musso, since I have a collection of "22" football jerseys.

Belden is to cable what McDonalds is to restaurant food.  OK, maybe that's an exaggeration, but not a lot.  There's some smart guys there, to be sure, but they aren't exactly known for their specialty cables.  At least in a positive way.

That entire thread has become too interesting for mere words.  I wonder if some of those guys approach their day jobs the same way as they do over there.

BTW, Don't be silly!  Gore-Tex is also used in running shoes...

Did you ever have one of those hunks of Gore-Tex, they used to hand out, at trade shows? Really fascinating stuff. I think I have one, somewhere, discolored, by all the times it had been handled.

Or, was that fondled?

Way too many details.

The story I heard was that some guy (Mr. Gore) was playing around with Teflon and tried to pretend that the stuff was like Silly Putty.   Then he began counting his money.

Various sellers, different colors and similar prices, they must be made in the same factory.
Link 1
Link 2
Link 3

Use "Oil Interconnect" as search parameter for other sellers

I really don't get this based on the picture for Link 3.

Where are they injecting the oil?

Is this some kind of Botox thing?
