"Greaser's Palace"
« on: May 31, 2010, 09:25:49 PM »
In  keeping with our usual practice, of thinking up stupid, idiotic, ridiculous, demeaning, denigrating, insipid and otherwise pointless names, for forums that we used to belong to, the place formerly commonly called "Jocko's Forum" (it really wasn't, but we will ignore that for now) shall be, from this point forward, referred to as "Greaser's Palace".

"Why that? Isn't that the name of some stupid movie, from the 70s?"

Yes, it is! How perceptive of you. OK, it has absolutely nothing to do with that movie. It is just a dumb name, that popped into my mind, and I proclaim that is what it will go by.

Besides, apart from confounding the people who run that place, it will screw with people who have nothing better to do than Google useless information.

"Major Danby, sir."
"Danby. D-A-N-B-Y."
"Take him out and shoot him."
"Sir?"
"I said take him out and shoot him. Can't you hear?"

Don't tell me that you also saw it.

Actually, the only resemblance to it and that other forum is they both make almost no sense. Unless you are amused by ramblings of folks calling a cascaded RC filter a "discrete output stage".

I would rather be amused watching a Mariachi band play, while a constipated cretin tries to unclog his nether regions. To the delight of his fawning admirers.

For what it is worth, my first reaction to that movie was "Hey, I know where that was filmed.................I've been there."

Yes, around 1975 or so.  That pic was a scan of the case of the DVD I bought of it a few years back.

Glad to have you on board. At least we know how "normal" you are.

Gulp:

It has been great all these years but due to the lack of time from the moderators and admin and the little movement lately, the forum will be closed soon.

Thank you all!

A guy we all know has predicted that it could happen...well, that was over a year ago, but anyway....

On a more serious note:
There is some very good information on that forum which I sometimes am looking up.
It would be a great loss if the forum would disappear completely. I would appreciate very much if it could stay just as a static website.

Maybe you should tell them. It may happen. More likely if folks speak up.

Hey!  Maybe we could copy it to a CD or DVD and have a Group Buy of the whole shootin' match!

Joking aside, and that was a joke, a static site would be a great thing.  If nothing else, I could look back at all the stupid things I said there over the years.  Between the static, uhh - random noise, contributed by me and maybe one or two others, there was much good information buried in those forums.
No double blind testing was used in the making of this post.

I have it on good authority they are trying to make it static. Not sure when they will get around to it, as some key people over there have stuff more important to deal with.

That is the problem with forums, in general, and small ones, in particular. If a key person has issues, in their personal life, or career, it can bring things to a halt. I know from my experience it was taking too much time, and when all I got in return was crap, it made me less interested. Especially when I was also dealing with more pressing matters.

I think we all know how that turned out.

Agreed. Much funnier than anything I have come up with, in quite a while. (Making fun of nuts, who claim cables multiply distortion takes no talent.)
