All I got out of it was that PD tried to slough it off as his design. Typical.

Other than that.............can't see what it is. Is that part of the joke?

Me thinks it is not a joke, ad least not to PH. AFAIK everything started HERE and continued HERE and still going on (see Joseph's link).

Ouch, the criticism at diyhifi from a well known member about this regulator design (or rather the choice of parts and values) wasn't swallowed well it seems ;-)

PH is "doing business" from those regs and me thinks it is unfair to made public his designs.
This will only hurt his bussines and gain you your own 5 min of glory. Not my cup of tea.

A lot of my friends asked me about small shunt regs with 3.3V and 5V. Since I'm not into audio business and not producing anything audio related (except for my own needs), I gave them PH's website adress to contact him.
Ad least 7 of them (maybe more) ordered and bought his regulators from my recommendation. I installed those regs into their gear. They asked me if I could start producing those regs but I refused to. I only agreed to modify existing ones.
I modified few of them and others (with unmodified regs) start calling me, why modified regs "sounding better" than unmodified  ;D

Therefore I asked few questions @ diyhifi. But beware, there is a deliberately fabricated hoax inside post to misguide unscrupulous copy-paste artists  ;)

Still not sure what all the buzz is about, other than The Machinist, once again, takes someone's work, and makes money off of it.

I think he is a fraud. From one of the first posts, in that thread:

Quote
Whenever I tried Tent clock, it never sounded better than stock crystal that came with a transport (CD-94, Z-1000, TL0, Shigaclone). The Tent clock sounded more 'digital' than a stock crystal.

So presently, I am really reluctant to any clock tricks

Because you can't copy any of it! You actually have to know what you are doing.

Proves my point.

Putz.

If he powered the clock with such a noisy regulator, yeah....
